Tenant disturbed by landlord and family’s death
Susana Masivulo and her family are emotionally disturbed by the deaths of their landlord Nirmal Kumar and his family members.
Mr Kumar, 63; his wife Usha Kumar, 54; their daughter Nileshni Kumar, 34, and her two daughters Sana, 11, and Samarah, 8, were found dead at Nausori Highlands in Nadi on Monday morning. Ms Masivulo has been a tenant of the Kumar family for more than seven years. She said the family would always inform them of their whereabouts, but that Sunday morning they left home and did not return. She said they neither called her nor her brothers.
“Whenever they go somewhere, they would always inform us of their whereabouts and to turn on the lights in their house, but on Sunday they didn’t call us at night,” she said.
“But my husband just went across to on the lights. I didn’t suspect anything.” Ms Masivulo said it was an emotional time
for her family to lose such caring neighbours and a landlord.
“We have been tenants for seven and a half years,” she said.
“It is really hard to lose someone like this because they were like family to us. “We used to eat together and everyday uncle (Nirmal Kumar) would call us to come and eat in his house. He was a very down to earth and humble man.”
