IS­SUED FROM THE NA­TIONAL WEATHER FORE­CAST­ING CEN­TRE NADI AT 7:30PM ON WED­NES­DAY THE 4TH OF SEPTEM­BER 2019.

A HEAVY RAIN WARN­ING RE­MAINS IN FORCE FOR EASTERN HALF OF VITI LEVU [FROM RAKIRAKI TO NAU­SORI IN­CLUD­ING THE IN­TE­RIOR], LAU AND LOMAIVITI GROUP AND IS NOW CAN­CELLED FOR THE REST OF THE GROUP, KADAVU AND NEARBY SMALLER IS­LANDS.

SIT­U­A­TION

A trough of low pres­sure re­mains slow mov­ing over the group. The as­so­ci­ated cloud and rain are ex­pected to af­fect the coun­try to­day.

Fore­cast to mid­night tonight for the Fiji Group:

For Eastern parts of Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Lau and Lomaiviti group, Kadavu and nearby smaller is­lands: Pe­ri­ods of rain, heavy at times and few thun­der­storms.

For the rest of Fiji:

Oc­ca­sional rain and iso­lated thun­der­storms. Rain eas­ing from later to­day. Cool nights. Lo­calised heavy falls may lead to flash flood­ing of low ly­ing ar­eas.

Mod­er­ate to fresh north to north­east, gusty at times. Winds turn­ing southerly from later to­day. Mod­er­ate to rough seas.

Out­look for to­mor­row: Brief show­ers over the eastern parts and the in­te­rior of larger is­lands. Fine else­where. Cool at night.
