In­dian Prime Min­is­ter Naren­dra Modi will be con­ferred an award by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foun­da­tion in recog­ni­tion of his ambitious clean­li­ness drive

“Swachh Bharat Ab­hiyan,” a min­is­ter in the Prime Min­is­ter Of­fice (PMO) said.

Ju­nior Min­is­ter in the PMO Ji­ten­dra Singh tweeted, “An­other award, an­other mo­ment of pride for ev­ery In­dian as PM Modi’s

dili­gent and in­no­va­tive ini­tia­tives bring lau­rels from across the world.

The “Swachh Bharat Ab­hiyan” is one of the first few ambitious projects that PM Modi launched in his first term.

The project was launched as an ode to Ma­hatma Gandhi on his birth an­niver­sary five years ago. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foun­da­tion is a pri­vate foun­da­tion owned by bil­lion­aire phi­lan­thropist and Mi­crosoft founder Bill Gates and his wife Melinda Gates.

Mr Modi is ex­pected to travel to the United States on Septem­ber 22 to 27.
