Great reading in the Fiji Plus magazine distributed by the Fiji Sun on Thursday, September 5, on the success of Rosie Tours Travel service company and its rise to stardom.

It reveals great vision, perseverance and a massive decisive sacrifice by Captain Roy Whitton and Rosie Whitton, or Mother Rose as she is commonly known from its inception to what it is today.

There were two senior employees who were instrumental in the pioneering days (Shiri and Sami) and the two stood by the couple through thick and thin and sacrificed very long hours.

However, both are long gone now.

I am very well acquainted with the Whitton family, but however I am saddened that there was no special mention in the interview of the support and contribution that Bridget Whitton, the wife of Tony, his only sister Mrs Rosie Whitton-Cavu, and the Rosie Group GM Eroni Puamau’s untold contribution to the success of Fiji’s largest inbound tour operator should never go unmentioned. Taking nothing away from their success, I personally made it a point to submit their nominations where Mother Rose and her son Tony Whitton were both recognised through the College of Honours from His Excellency the President by being awarded the Order of Fiji medal.

A great and proud Fijian-owned company exporting many tremendous tailored Fijianmade products to the outside world and Fiji Tourism can only get better through their contribution.

Vinaka vakalevu to mother Rose and the late Papa Roy for your contribution to our economy and the many people who have benefited from your vision.
