VODAFONE SUGAR FESTIVAL
CONTESTANT HOPES TO GAIN SELF-CONFIDENCE
Litiana Nasilasila will be using this month’s Vodafone Sugar Festival to gain selfconfidence.
The 20-year-old is being sponsored by Wilderness Amusement and Rides.
She looks forward to socialising with the likes of prominent people who are instrumental in the growth of Lautoka City.
“I see this as a challenge and I would love to speak with people about how the communities of our family and friends can benefit from these discussions,” the contestant from Viseisei, Vuda, said.
“At the moment we are still organizing ourselves individually as contestants but we will meet with various stakeholders from next week.” She has maternal links to Gau, Lomaiviti and is currently a second year student at the Fiji National University, Lautoka campus. She is pursuing a Bachelor in Environmental Science.
“A friend of mine was a former contestant and she offered me the opportunity to take part so I went for it.”
She said she hoped to shed some light on some issues impacting the South Pacific environmentally.
“I have been researching, reports, reading articles and also getting help from my lecturers.
“I will be advocating on the effects
of climate change in the Pacific as a whole and in Fiji but specifically focusing on sea level rise, air pollution and other issues that are been raised during the COP23.
“My advice to women my age is choose your friends wisely and carefully and be sure that you’re are getting advice and support from the right people who won’t lead you the wrong way.”
The weeklong festival begins on September 21 and ends on September 28 and it will be held at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
