Sugar Cane Growers Fund signed an agreement for the acquisition of new Lending Management System yesterday.

Chief Executive Officer Raj Sharma said it was an historic occasion for a move to a real time technological platform.

He said SCGF had gone through a comprehensive tender process and evaluation, including independent assessment to select the vendor.

Vendor Datec Fiji Pte Limited has partnered with Indian technology company, Sesame Software Solutions Pvt. Ltd for the solution-BeaconPro. “The combination of Datec, a local ICT Solutions company and Sesame a renowned ICT solution provider from India gives greater comfort to us,” Mr. Sharma said.

Sesame’s relentless pursuit of technological excellence and superior innovation has given birth to (BFSI) solutions that extend across various verticals from full-fledged Solution Suite to Smartphone Apps. “Sesame boasts several solutions that has satisfied SCGF customer expectations and gained the status of Inspired Innovation including in the space of Financial Inclusion, “said M Sreekumar, Associate Vice President of Sesame. “Datec is pleased to be chosen by SCGF for the implementation of the New Lending Management System and its belief in partnerships will ensure SCGF gets value from their investment,” Veer Sharma, Branch Manager West for Datec Fiji Pte Ltd said. Mr Sharma said growers would benefit from the technological advancements in the new system. The Fund has approximately 26,000 accounts [both specialised and priority loans] with lending portfolio of approximately $30 million inclusive of individual farmers and other institutional loans and advances.

“There is a steady progress in the portfolio and revision of the products and services, expected to have significant growth in years to come,” Mr Sharma said. “The current system has been operational for more than 13 years and needed to change.”

“The project is expected to roll out from next month and complete by March 2020,” the Fund’s Acting Manager Information Technology, Ms. Sheetal Shalini.

“This new system will improve services of the lending to the growers, real time balance, connection and communication, including most of the data and process automation,” she added.

“This will also improve the data accuracy and reporting and overall better services to the growers.”

The system includes the Apps and real time loan application submission.
