Author­ity will Con­sult Stake­hold­ers, Com­mu­nity, Public on Road Up­grade

The Fiji Roads Author­ity will con­duct public con­sul­ta­tions to pro­vide an over­view of the pro­posed road up­grade works on Queen El­iz­a­beth Drive Road widen­ing Stage 2.

It will be an op­por­tu­nity for stake­hold­ers and mem­bers of the public in the area to “Meet the Team” from the author­ity.

As part of the Queen El­iz­a­beth Drive (QED) Road Widen­ing Project, the Author­ity is propos­ing to up­grade ap­prox­i­mately 2.9kilo­me­tres of QED.

The works will be car­ried out in three stages and ar­eas:

Stage One: From Ratu Sukuna Road to Vuya Road, in­clud­ing Nas­ese Bridge (1.67km)

■ Stage Two: From Vuya Road to Muanikau Road (1.35km)

■ Stage Three: From Muanikau Road to Lau­cala Bay Road ex­tend­ing 200m of Fletcher Road (1.34km) How­ever, the FRA will be­gin works from Area Two from Septem­ber 30. The Queen El­iz­a­beth Drive - Stage 2 scope of work en­com­passes the de­sign, up­grad­ing and con­struc­tion of three sec­tions of QED in­clud­ing the Nas­ese Bridge, along with the struc­ture re­place­ment, relocation and/or up­grad­ing of ser­vices with road re­serve.

The main ob­jec­tive of the con­sul­ta­tion is to con­sult the key stake­hold­ers, sur­round­ing com­mu­nity mem­bers and the gen­eral public on any is­sues or con­cerns which they may wish to raise in re­la­tion to the pro­posed road works.

The public con­sul­ta­tion will pro­vide an over­view of the pro­posed road up­grade works, dis­cuss on land ac­qui­si­tion, and iden­tify po­ten­tial en­vi­ron­men­tal and social im­pacts en­vis­aged and how these could po­ten­tially be mit­i­gated.
