Ju­di­ciary Com­mis­sion in Samoa Sus­pends Three Judges

Samoa’s Ju­di­ciary Com­mis­sion has sus­pended three judges of the Lands and Ti­tles court. One of them is the deputy pres­i­dent of the court, Se­veali’i Panapa Ve’e.

The oth­ers are the se­nior judges Lavea Siaosi Hazel­man and Judge Nanai Pologa Ioane.

A state­ment from the Min­istry of Jus­tice said the three were sus­pended on Mon­day pend­ing an in­ves­ti­ga­tion into al­le­ga­tions re­gard­ing a de­ci­sion of the court which in­volved the sus­pended judges.

The com­mis­sion, chaired by the act­ing chief just Vui Clarence Nel­son, will ap­point a com­mit­tee to con­duct the in­ves­ti­ga­tion.

The three judges were sus­pended pend­ing an in­ves­ti­ga­tion into al­le­ga­tions re­gard­ing a de­ci­sion of the court which in­volved them.
