Authority will Consult Stakeholders, Community, Public on Road Upgrade
The Fiji Roads Authority will conduct public consultations to provide an overview of the proposed road upgrade works on Queen Elizabeth Drive Road widening Stage 2.
It will be an opportunity for stakeholders and members of the public in the area to “Meet the Team” from the authority.
As part of the Queen Elizabeth Drive (QED) Road Widening Project, the Authority is proposing to upgrade approximately 2.9kilometres of QED.
The works will be carried out in three stages and areas:
Stage One: From Ratu Sukuna Road to Vuya Road, including Nasese Bridge (1.67km)
■ Stage Two: From Vuya Road to Muanikau Road (1.35km)
■ Stage Three: From Muanikau Road to Laucala Bay Road extending 200m of Fletcher Road (1.34km) However, the FRA will begin works from Area Two from September 30. The Queen Elizabeth Drive - Stage 2 scope of work encompasses the design, upgrading and construction of three sections of QED including the Nasese Bridge, along with the structure replacement, relocation and/or upgrading of services with road reserve.
The main objective of the consultation is to consult the key stakeholders, surrounding community members and the general public on any issues or concerns which they may wish to raise in relation to the proposed road works.
The public consultation will provide an overview of the proposed road upgrade works, discuss on land acquisition, and identify potential environmental and social impacts envisaged and how these could potentially be mitigated.
