Hot Bread Kitchen is not about just being an HBK employer, or making money. The 37-year-old business is also in the business of ensuring they are a beacon of strength and hope in times of great need.

On September 27, 2019, a 27-yearold Apete Tuilovoni was working his second week as a newly-recruited Hot Bread Kitchen Baker at the Nadi Market branch, when he was informed that their home had been burnt to the ground.

Mr Tuilovoni’s younger brother it is understood was alone sleeping at their home when the fire broke out at around 2am.

The family who moved to their home in Lavusa, Nadi just three years ago, were fortunate no one had died in the fire, which left them with only the clothes on their back. Mr Tuilovoni had been living in the house with his younger brother and Aunt.

The house had been burnt down in just a couple of minutes.

While the cause of the fire is suspected to be an electrical fault, the Hot Bread Kitchen management and staff when informed of the incident immediately made a decision to reach out to their new member of the team.

A team from Suva led by the general manager Finance and Administration Tevita Koroi, gave Mr Tuilovoni an envelope with a cash cheque to help the family during this time of great difficulty. Mr Tuilovoni said: “I am very deeply touched and I know this support will greatly be appreciated by my aunt and brother.

“I am grateful that I have joined a great team at HBK and I now Endevour to give my best to Hot Bread Kitchen and make my time with them mutually beneficial to the company and to my life and family.”
