Marriott International has hosted its annual Australian Destination Pacific Islands events. These saw travel industry professionals gather with regional representatives at Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park and Four Points by Sheraton Melbourne Docklands to learn about the latest offerings at the company’s hotels and resorts in Fiji, Samoa and New Caledonia.

At a glance:

On 24 September in Sydney and 25 September in Melbourne, more than 140 buyers, travel agents and travel trade media met with representatives from Marriott International’s 10 hotels and resorts in Fiji, Samoa and New Caledonia. Representatives from a range of Pacific destinations, airlines and tourism operators, such as New Caledonia Tourism, Fiji Airways, Pacific Island Air and Sigatoka River Safari, were also in attendance, with news and updates on travel to and from the destinations as well as on the ground experiences.

Prize giving

Marriott’s Pacific hotels and partner suppliers gave away a range of prizes. “The Pacific is an ongoing focus for Marriott International. It’s a diverse region, offering options for both business and leisure travellers to stay, meet and play,” said Sean Hunt, Area Vice President, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific. “We continue to assess our offering in the Pacific to ensure we’re top of the game, and the current refurbishment of Sheraton Fiji Resort’s guestrooms, lobby, dining and leisure spaces is a prime example of this. Our annual Destination Pacific Islands events provide a forum to communicate developments like this, as well as our insights on news, trends and developments in the region with key stakeholders. It’s exciting to see it return bigger and better for its third year.”

Marriott operations

Currently, Marriott International operates 10 properties across Fiji, Samoa and New Caledonia. In addition to its hotels and resorts, Marriott also offers a range of fine dining and world class golfing; Sheraton New Caledonia Deva Spa & Golf Resort is home to the Oceania’s first Dye Designs Group golf course. Each of Marriott’s hotels in the Pacific also participate in its travel programme, Marriott Bonvoy, meaning members can further enhance their travels with benefits for staying, dining and more.
