Fiji Represented at Asian Productivity Organisation’s 60th National Productivity Heads Meeting
The director of National Training and Productivity Centre (NTPC) Isimeli Tagicakiverata represented Fiji at the Asian Productivity Organisation’s (APO) 60th Workshop Meeting of National Productivity Organisation (NPO).
The meeting was held at Taipei, Taiwan past week. The high-level meet brought together Heads of National Productivity Organisations from 19 member countries. The Fiji National University’s (FNU) National Training and Productivity Centre is mandated by the Government to spearhead and facilitate all workforce productivity-related programs and activities.
The NTPC works in partnership with the industries in Fiji to boost productivity in significant sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, food processing and growth of small medium enterprises.
At the high-level meeting, Mr Tagicakiverata as the the Head of Fiji’s NPO, was appointed as the Chair of the Industry and Services Committee, which will deliberate and finalise various projects to be hosted by member countries over three years from 2020 to 2022.
“New projects introduced by the APO which are to be facilitated in Fiji so far include training programs on Industry 4.0, Green Productivity, Productivity Measurement, and Smart manufacturing,” Mr Tagicakiverata said.
“Fiji has greatly benefited from the wide range of APO workshops in terms of exposure and increased knowledge and practical applications.
“Also, every year, over 60 delegates from Fiji from both the public and private sectors are sent overseas to attend these workshops all of which are fully funded by APO.”
APO’s Governing Body Meeting
Fiji will host the APO’s Governing Body Meeting for the first time next year.
According to Mr Tagicakiverata, preparations for this event is well underway.
“Fiji’s productivity partners, the Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations and
FNU are working together to prepare for April 2020, as Fiji will be hosting the main Governing Body Meeting of the APO on Denarau Island.
“This is a significant achievement for Fiji,” stated Mr Tagicakiverata.
Fiji has been a member of the APO since 1984 and has appreciated significant growth and transformation of the productivity movement in Fiji through this collaboration.
