Radisson Blu Resort Hands $7000 to Fiji Cancer Society

160 resort staff members underwent breast cancer tests

Radisson Blu Resort Fiji on Denarau Island has donated $7000 in support of Pinktober. During the cheque handover yesterday, resort general manager Charles Homsy said throughout the month, the property had donation tins available around the resort to collect contributi­ons. In exchange they would provide pink ribbons which have become the symbol for advocating breast cancer awareness.

Mr Homsy also said he was proud of the effort put in by the staff throughout the month of October. The funds were handed over to the Fiji Cancer Society showed the resort’s support for breast cancer research and awareness. “We have done this for several years and we do some festivity with guests and staff.

“This is the hotel’s responsibi­lity as a business and as always, the management and staff have like to participat­e in these activities, not only for cancer awareness, but every single time we do a business responsibl­e role.”

He also said 160 of the resort’s staff members underwent breast cancer tests. Fiji Cancer Society’s Maggi Erbsloben thanked the resort for their active involvemen­t this month. She said Pinktober has been moved to include the first week of November which also in line in with Movember. Last year the Fiji Cancer Society raised $286,000. Furthermor­e, guests and staff members of the resort took part in an early morning walk to mark the end of their fundraisin­g campaign for Pinktober.

Last year the resort raised $6500.
