‘A good newspaper is a nation talking to itself’
The new ‘in’ thing Samuela R Rareba, Raiwaqa, Suva
It is indeed very sad to be hearing all these incidents involving stabbing and it’s becoming the “in” thing nowadays.
With all this awareness and discussions on this topic, it seems like they are only driving the thought for these men to opt for the knife rather than discussions.
This is becoming a trend in society and one might think that it’s contagious because the more we hear about it the more it keeps popping up.
I urge us men to please think twice before you lift your hand or the knife on your wife or partner because that life is not yours to take away but to care for and love.
Special gathering Sukha Singh, Labasa
I can’t understand why the Local Government Minister has to make a special gathering of the new special administrators just to tell them that there won’t be any more amnesty for defaulting ratepayers and to prepare all the annual reports.
Couldn’t she just call them on the phone or send an e-mail telling them what she wants to be done in their respective councils, anyway as a rate payer I do not have any say.
Congratulations
Tukai Lagonilakeba, Namaka, Nadi
Congratulations Doc, it is not surprising for those that follow the progress of this particular individual Cabinet Minister in our FijiFirst government line up, he has been rewarded with his good work ethics, loyalty and honesty to his Oath of Office despite all those negative critics of his from opposition members and their many supporters on social media.
He follows in the footsteps of former Cabinet Minister Faiyaz Koya and current sitting MPs Mereseini Vuniwaqa, Semi Koroilavesau, Inia Seriratu, Jone Usamate, who have all acted in the same capacity in the absence of both Prime Minister Bainimarama and Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum. They have all gained the trust of our Prime Minister throughout the years and it is also in line with the spirit of our 2013 Constitution, where it specifically stipulates that any Fijian can become a PM or president of our republic irrespective of one’s ethnicity or their religious preference.
For as long as you are a Fijian, have the qualifications for the positions and have gained the trust of your political party members with the party’s basic fundamentals, you have got it.
I do know for sure Sitiveni Rabuka, Ro Teimumu Kepa, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu and their cronies from the SODELPA House criticised the appointment of the President, Jioji Konrote, to replace our current Speaker of Parliament because he was not of the iTaukei heritage as pertained in their rejected and very discriminating 1997 Constitution.
I personally feel that given another five years term, this brave and visionary government will certainly eliminate the type of childish negative mindsets these critics have.
