Tony Hanks believes Emoni Narawa, 20, will make a mark in the 2020 Super Rugby season The Blues General Manager High Performance said the young player has enormous potential.

“Emoni is an elusive, fast and smart young winger who impressed us not just with his of field attributes but as an excellent young man,” he said

“He will fit in with our approach to the game and we think he has enormous potential.” The former Queen Victoria School speedster and Bay of Plenty winger has signed a twoyear contract after impressing Blues coach Leon McDonald.

He was a standout player for the Blues A team against the touring Honda Heat side from Japan.

The Nabulivatu, Serua native played alongside current Fiji Airways Fiji 7s forward Meli Derenalagi for the QVS U18 team during the Deans Trophy competition final in 2016 where his winning kick won the final for the Matavatucou brigade.

Narawa joined Hamilton Boys High on scholarship before being recruited by Bay of Plenty. His debut last year only lasted 50 minutes before breaking his ankle, although he returned to play sevens for the Steamers and has been impressive in this year’s Mitre-10 Cup.

He features in the top 3 wingers in the Mitre 10 Cup for defenders beaten, is first in clean breaks and has so far scored three tries. Narawa appeared 13 times for the Steamers and scored 50 points.

The other Fijians in the Blues squad are Alex Hodgman and Hoskins Sotutu.
