All district Emergency Operation Centres (EOC) in the North were given 48 hours to compile Initial Damage Assessment (IDA) of Tropical Cyclone Tino.

Acting Commissioner Northern Uraia Rainima said the heads of department were told during the morning meeting that the deadline for IDA was yesterday.

“The teams were immediately sent out on Saturday to carry out IDA,” Mr Rainima said.

“Once this is done all district EOC will be closed except for our Northern head EOC.

We will then compile a report and send it to our head office.”

“After this then the teams will carry out Detailed Damage Assessment (DDA),” he said.

“When this is completed we will be in a better position to know the total cost of damage for all the sectors in the three provinces (Cakaudrove, Bua and Macuata).” He confirmed that all evacuation centres were closed yesterday.

“We have received reports of two houses damaged by TC Tino on Friday,” he said.

“There is no record of casualties and flash flooding in the North. Major

damage were done to the roads and crossings.

“We are waiting reports from Ministry of Agriculture team on the damage to crops and fields. Some areas faced power cut,” he said.

“Energy Fiji Limited (EFL) is still working to restore power supply in affected areas

“Some places couldn’t receive power supply because the EFL team couldn’t cross the flooded and damaged crossings and roads on Saturday.

“However, from Monday I expect all operations back to normal.” He confirmed that the main EOC in Labasa would remain open.
