Head Prefects Eye Careers in the Army
The Sila Central High School head prefects want to pursue a career path in the Republic of Fiji Military Forces and become officers in the future.
Head girl Indirani Narayan, who is the first Indo-Fijian student elected to lead the iTaukei-dominated school, was the best overall female candidate at the cadet passing out last year.
For Indirani, it is a dream come true and the 18-year-old is honored to lead the school’s student council.
“I’m ready to shoulder responsibilities and tasks that will uphold the ethos and culture of the school with our team of prefects,” she said.
Her sources of inspiration are Barrack Obama, Mahatma Gandhi, Republic of Fiji Military Forces instituion and her father, Amar
Narayan.
“Leadership begins at home. Being the eldest in the house, I have learned a lot of qualities to be a true leader and the sacrifices that come with it,” Indirani said.
“Punctuality is most important as well as cooperation with seniors, reporting any suspicious act then just follow instructions and being obedient.”
For head boy, Jone Qionivoka, a leader must be humble and united always with his team.
“Humble yourself before the Lord and he will lift you up,” he said.
“I, together with head girl and deputies, will be leading the Centralian Prefects Council.” As leaders we will encourage and motivate the team to work together to achieve desired goals.
“Leadership also means to guide, monitor and mentor our junior leaders so they are better prepared,” he said.
