Tiliva 7s Moved

- SIMIONE HARAVANUA Edited by Karalaini Tavi

The annual Tiliva 7s tournament has been deferred to the end of the year so that teams can display good rugby. According to organiser William Tabuya the committee has set a date that will properly cater for the visitng teams as the previous tournament have been played under unfavourable weather conditions.

“We have decided to move the tournament to the first week of the third term of the school holidays,” he said.

“We hoping it will go back-toback with the Yaubula Kadavu 7s to sort of support the Kadavu 7s calendar and give something back to the people of Kadavu,” he said.

“I believe this date will properly suit the game that we love and people in the island get to watch the best 7s team in Fiji show their

skills. That can only happen when the weather is good.”

Tabuya added the organisers have shifted the date because of the poor weather conditions they have faced in the past.

“The Tiliva 7s has taken the learning from the past three years as we all know the wet conditions that has hit Kadavu islands,” he said.

“It’s the cyclone season in 2017 we had our first in 2018 we had to cancel it due to the cyclone that hit the island.

“In 2019 we revived the tournament but it was still very soggy the conditions were bad so we had to sti down and came up with this decision.

“We can confirm that we are having the same sponsors again this year.

‘Silver Waters is coming back on board and apologies to all the teams in the past three tournaments for the hardships they faced in the past tournaments.
