WAF SERVICE

It gives me hope that we now have a new chief executive for Water Authority of Fiji (WAF), Barry Omundson, who is highly recommended for his extensive water-related background.
My concern here is about a burst outside my meter, which I reported to WAF on 30/08/19, and was given the complaint number 1534189. I was happy with their assurance of early action.
However, about three months of “zero” action I made a reminder on 25/11/19. WAF responded that I need to be given a new complaint number because the previous one’s gone astray.
So, a new complaint number 1560718 was given to me, with the usual rhetorical response of service. On 02/12/19, I made another reminder to WAF and as I write this letter, there is still “zero” action from WAF. The Water burst is now washing away soil from two driveway entrances.
I plead for action that water wastage was contradictory to their advisories for conserving water before and after Christmas.
So, I will entrust Mr Barry to improve services. (Letter was published on January 7, 2020.)
