Student leaders of Lomary Secondary School in Galoa, Serua have pledged to do their duties to the best of their abilities in the 2020 academic year.
Newly inducted head boy Saimoni Tuibau and head girl Salote Gavidi said even though they did not expect to be appointed, they were ready for the tough tasks ahead.
The duo were among 28 other student leaders appointed to help teachers ensure the rules and regulations, of the school with a roll of 300 students, are followed.
Saimoni said he was honoured to be given the responsibility.
The Nakorovou, Serua youth said he would ensure all student leaders will be good role models who will help lift the level of discipline at the school.
“I had been a prefect at school for the past few years and I always ensured that I took care of all the responsibilities rendered to me,” the head boy said.
“In my past experiences I noticed that some were not good role models to students, they came late to school and some breached rules themselves.
“I will try my best to stop such behaviour this year. It is not going to happen under my watch.
“I am excited knowing there is a long and tough road ahead of me.”
He believes that maintaining discipline is key to achieving excellence academically and with extracurricular activities, as well.
Head girl Salote Gavidi hopes students will co-operate with them throughout the year to achieve the best results for everyone.
“We will not be able to do everything on our own, we need everyone’s assistance to work together to achieve the best,” Salote said. “We will do our part as leaders and students must do theirs.
“At the end of the day, we reap the consequences of our actions, if we do good we will achieve great things and vice versa.”
