Votoniu back to boost Nadi’s defensive line

-

Reliable defender Ame Votoniu returns in time to strengthen Nadi’s defensive line in today’s Vodafone Premier League clash against Rewa at Prince Charles Park. Votoniu were among the eight players suspended by Nadi Football Association for an alleged drinking spree during last year’s Courts Interdistrict Championship.

Nadi Football Association acting president Ashwan Singh confirmed Votoniu’s return.

“We need to bounce back at any cost,” Singh said after their 6-0 drubbing against Lautoka.

“However, we respect Rewa at the same time but we won’t let the fans down.” Striker Jeshal Kumar and Josua Tawake are still ruled out. Kumar injured his knee against Navua while Tawake was red carded against Lautoka.

New find, 22-year-old Serevi Waqa will make his debut at right back.

Singh added that they are expected to play 3-5-2 formation rather than the 4-4-2.

“We will not be playing the 4-4-2 formation. We urge the fans to come out in big numbers to support the boys,” he said.

The match kicks off at 3pm.
