Samisoni Enterprise Pte Limited has begun venturing into Agriculture products.

One such product is the Karyon Organic Technology which is a soil conditioner from Pune, India, that helps to improve crop yield. Samisoni Enterprise Pte Limited is the parent company of Hot Bread Kitchen.

Objective

Group chief executive officer John Leslie Samisoni said the company is venturing into agriculture because having good and nutritional produce is important. “We do not have a background in Agriculture but even with what we know, the results from using the product is very unusual.

“We have bought our stocks and we have been going around Fiji introducing it to various farmers that we have been able to get in touch with.

“Jope, our field manager, has been holding three rounds of presentations and workshops in different areas of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu and it has been going very well and there has been a demand for the products,” he said.

Benefits to farmers

Mr Samisoni adds that the Karyon Organic Technology not only increases soil fertility, it also improves crop yield.

He adds that they have already started visiting farms, conducting workshops for the farmers “One of the things that we focus on is the service.

Apart from the product itself we try and help the farmers become experts and influence other farmers on how they can improve their farm.

“From the product itself, we have seen drastic changes in terms of yield and harvesting time frame. “For the sugar industry we have started distributing a few weeks ago and we have registered changes in terms of growth.

“We plan to set up a network of distributors so they will wholesale and retail it out to the end users which are the farmers.” Karyon Organic Fiji Field manager Jope Koroisavou said: “So far there has been positive feedback from the farmers who have tested the samples of the product. “Also in the vegetable and crop areas the response has been very positive together with the support that we have from the Ministry of Agriculture.” Mr Koroisavou has been conducting demonstrations with sugarcane and vegetable farmers in Ba and Rakiraki.
