Gecko’s for local tourism specials

Gecko’s resort will be focusing on bring in more local guests as part of its focus for local tourism.

Gecko’s Resort is focusing on boosting the local tourism area through its special local rates.

General manager Shadna Naicker said Gecko’s Resort will be promoting their special rates as they focus on the local market.

Situated 10 minutes from Sigatoka town, the small Fijian resort has 28 rooms with the option for single studio units and interconne­cting units.

“We are targeting local guests with special offers going at $170 for standard rooms with full breakfast for two.

“The resort is in process of doing more campaigns and promotions by liaising directly via emails with our regular clients as well as online on Gecko’s Resort booking page.

“We are promoting the local market as we hope for good results once the resort resumes operations,” she said.

For less than $480, guests can spend the weekend at Gecko’s Resort

inclusive of food and drinks.

Employees

Meanwhile, employees of Gecko’s Resort remain employed despite the resort being temporaril­y closed since the COVID-19 lockdown in March.

“The resort will re-open from June 1, 2020 as we still have some bookings for June that have not been cancelled,” she said.

Out of the forty employees, ten are working per eight hour shift while some are on paid leave.

This move by the resort was to ensure employees were supported during this COVID-19 pandemic as well as to help upkeep the resort’s property.

Ms Naicker said Gecko’s Resort has been closed because there were no guests since travel restrictio­ns were still in place.

“We are maintainin­g the resort up to the standard, cleaning, grass cutting, keeping grounds and garden beautiful and minor renovation­s.
