Methodist Church provides TC Harold relief
The Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma donated food rations, solar lights and clothes to the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) as part of their Church assistance post natural disasters.
Deputy General Secretary Reverend Iliesa Naivalu said the relief supplies were for the Lau Group and Kadavu.
These donations have been contributed by 14 divisions in the Central Division from Deuba to Davuilevu.
“All the contributions from the Western Division were collected at Vatukarasa Village and that has been loaded to a 10-tonne truck last Friday, which is with the NDMO and is scheduled to leave for Vatulele tomorrow.
“Some in the Central Division such as Nausori, Rewa, Bau and Ra, all their relief assistance has been already distributed to the various areas in the Central Division affected by the TC Harold.
“The contributions are close to 20 tonnes of supplies comprising food rations, solar lights and clothing.
“The amount is estimated close to $40,000 with the contributions from Vatukarasa, Jubilee Hall in Suva and the Nausori Hall contributions,” Reverend Naivalu said. He said the donation was a normal church practice.
He said in every disaster, the Church was always there to assist because they were practising what they believed in.
“Since the establishment of the Church in Fiji, we have assisted in every disaster that affected our Fijian families,” Reverend Naivalu said
