Solomon Airlines Sanitises Plane Before Nadi
ASolomon Airlines flight that flew into Nadi International Airport yesterday had been hygienically cleaned before it left Honiara.
Process
“No we weren’t filming a movie onboard last night,” the airline said in a statement.
“This space age setup is actually Pacific Environmental Ltd fully sanitising our aircraft.
“This process was conducted by Pacific Environment Ltd who fully sanitised the aircraft, all seats are cleared, all tray tables dropped and opened, and all overhead compartments are opened, prior to the entire interior being coated in a bacteria-destroying mist.
“The mist combines an antimicrobial with Quaternary Ammonium Compounds (QAC’s), approved by the Australia Therapeutic Goods Administration and others to be effective against viruses including coronavirus.
“It kills the germs and microbes on the aircraft, and coats surfaces with a long lasting microbial resistant layer.”
Solomon Airlines had approval from the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Fijian Governments, to operate a series of additional international repatriation flights yesterday. They began in Honiara.
Restrictions
Due to Government restrictions, only Honiara-bound passengers were uplifted in Port Vila and the aircraft then ferried between Port Vila and Nadi, where it offloaded approved Fijian citizens onboard, and boarded Solomon Island citizens.
A statement released by the airline said this was the sanitising process which occurred on Tuesday
evening in Honiara following Solomon Airlines repatriation flight from Brisbane to Honiara. It further added that the Airbus A320 aircraft continued on yesterday to Port Vila, Vanuatu, and Nadi.
