Queen to Ramp Up Security at Her Windsor Castle Over Terror Fears
Tthe Queen has submitted planning permission for changes at Windsor Castle where she is isolating during the coronavirus outbreak because of security concerns, Express. co.uk can reveal.
Her Majesty is building a new merchandise headquarters away from Windsor Castle because it is impacting on the security of the Royal Family.
The Royal Household will build a new large warehouse for part of The Royal Collection Trust.
The headquarters will act as the place where royal merchandise is received and dispatched to retail outlets at Royal Palaces throughout the United Kingdom. The Royal Collection Trust looks after the Royal Collection, one of the most important art collections in the world which include pictures by Canaletto, Rembrandt, Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo.
The Trust, whose chairman is Prince Charles, is part of The Royal Household and also manages the public opening of the official residences of Her Majesty The Queen.
The retail HQ is currently based on Home Farm on the Royal Estate, but the Queen has requested that it moves to Windsor Great Park further away from the Castle. In planning documents seen by Express. co.uk, the Crown Estate, said: “The Royal Collection Trust’s retail operation, who run the stores at the Royal Palaces currently occupy unsuitable accommodation in the Home Park, not far from Windsor Castle.
It is understood that security measures are being ramped up following the London Bridge and Westminster terror attacks in recent years.
The Queen is also selfisolating at Windsor Castle after being driven from Buckingham Palace on March 19th.
Prince Philip, 98, was flown down to join her from Sandringham shortly after.
