PLEASS GLOBAL CONVENES FIJI’S FIRST LISTED COMPANY ON-LINE AGM
Pleass Global Limited convened Fiji’s first listed company on-line annual general meeting (AGM) last week.
It was a historic event as attendees had the option of attending on-line, with full interaction and voting facilities.
A new independent director Stephanie Jones was appointed at the 12th annual general meeting last week.
Mrs Jones was appointed unanimously as an independent director of the company, by the shareholders.
She is the director, secretary, and financial controller for the Goodman Fielder Group of Companies in Fiji – roles she has held since June 2014.
Career history
Previous work experience in Fiji has been with the South Pacific Community (18 months contract work) and with the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat as Director Corporate Services for seven years.
Prior to Fiji, Mrs Jones she held a number of roles in AgResearch (a life sciences company) and in KPMG both based in Hamilton, New Zealand.
Her work life started in the sciences.
Educational background
She has a Master of Science in Physics from the University of Waikato before moving into the commercial arena and completing degrees in accounting and management (BMS and
MBA at the University of Waikato).
She is a member of the Fiji Institute of Accountants and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, and is the Secretary for the Fiji New Zealand Business Council.
Mrs Jones is passionate about making a difference in the lives of the people of Fiji and the Pacific and is committed to setting standards and practices in the workplace that everyone can be proud of.
She believes strongly in open communication, transparency, and good governance.
She has lived in Fiji since 2003 and is a Fijian citizen.
Highs and lows
Pleass Global’s operating revenue for 2019 rose by 13 per cent, while its export growth was 187 per cent. Domestic revenue was down heavily but showed signs of recovery.
Pleass Global’s share price increased by 9.6 per cent.
