Likuri Island Resort has slashed accommodation rates by as much as 60 per cent. Rates at the Likuri Island Resort reflected its support for the Government’s Love Your Locals campaign.

Likuri Island Resort was previously known as Robinson Crusoe Island Resort at Natadola, Sigatoka.

Discount on accomodation

Resort sales and marketing manager Seta Raiyawa said the 40 per cent to 60 per cent on accommodation hinged on the room category.

The offer came into effect from June 12 when the first group of local holidaymakers visited the island.

“There is a further discount for the second night, if people add on,” Mr Rayawa said.

Dicount on meals

The resort is offering 35 per cent to 40 per cent discount on modified meals, he said.

The resort has suspended buffet meals in the interest of upholding coronavirus (COVID-19)-related restrictions such as physical distancing and increased hygiene practice, he said.

“Guests have a choice of a ‘blackboard menu’ that features almost

all local ingredients,” Mr Rayawa said.

“We also offer a flat 20 per cent discount at the bar.”

Return boat transfers from the jetty is $15 per person.

Just last weekend, the resort recorded a near-full house as 15 rooms were booked.

The sudden influx of local guests to the resort was met with an enthusiastically excited staff who greeted the first guests back to the island on Friday morning, after close to two months.

“We were forced to suspend operations on March 23, with the onset of the COVID-19 restrictions.”

Mr Raiyawa hopes Government restrictions would ease in the coming weeks, to allow guests to use the swimming pool.

“We have modified our offering to suit the needs and budget of our local guests, and are open on weekends.

For Robinson Crusoe Tours, the resort also managed to secure over 30 day trippers for the weekend.

Mr Raiyawa said most of the staff were pleased to be able to offer some additional employment, even if it meant reduced hours.

“We know how challenging this has been on all the tourism industry.

“While we heartily embrace the domestic tourism market, we will only return to profitability when the international border reopens.

“Our hopes are bolstered by the strides made in New Zealand and Australia that the trans-Tasman bubble and Fiji will eventuate as soon as practicable. Continental breakfast is part of the package deal, while cooked breakfast is available at a separate price.

Likuri Island Resort aims to offer package deals for corporates and groups to capitalise on.
