100 Years of Being Customer-Centric

- MESSAGE FROM COURTS GENERAL MANAGER RETAIL OPERATIONS

CONTINUED FROM B2 Lasaro Kaivei

– Lasaro joined Burns Phillip as a casual furniture handyman in July 1984. During his career he held various positions including senior carpet layer, supervisor sewing room, supervisor fabric/Manchester and supervisor furniture.

In his career he was awarded no less than eighteen merit awards for exceeding sales budgets and for setting up branch operations.

Lasaro is currently based at the

Bula Vinaka. Amidst 2020 being a very challenging year for retail globally and also in Fiji, it is however indeed an honour and pleasure to be part of the Courts 100th anniversary commemoration. Having started my career back in 1979 with then Burns Philips South Seas Company Limited and after spending over 40 years it is great to see the transformation of this great company.

Back then when I started work, the company used to be run by mostly expatriates. Those were the so called the dark days where there was very little use of technology. There were a lot of manual

Courts Samabula store as an after sales service representative.

As I mentioned before, as the current torch bearers of Courts, our endeavors are now dedicated to laying the foundations for the successful continuation of Courts for the next 100 years. For this we only have one Purpose in mind - ‘Delighting our Customer’.

We will endeavor to build stronger bridges and even more trusted relationships.

With the COVID-19 crisis, it is sad processes, use of adding machines, typewriters and landlines etc. We were then introduced to computers, mobile phones etc. that enhanced retailing standards in the country. Back then, electrical products were a luxury and quite expensive but we made it easy and affordable for customer by offering goods on Hire Purchase. A lot of families benefitted from this and it has also improved customers’ lifestyles in Fiji.

Burns Philip Homecentres was acquired by Courts Fiji Limited in 2004 and the merger took place. In 2006, Vision Group bought Courts Fiji Limited and since then the company has progressed and it

to see some of our customers deeply affected by the crisis. Particularly some of our hire purchase customers.

We are in constant contact with these customers and will extend every practical assistance to help these customers get back on their feet again.

This is what trusted relationships are about.

And this is why families continue

Courts. God Bless. generations of to shop with is what it is today. Courts Retail is now the market leaders in Fiji and I am very proud to lead a team of dynamic hard working and dedicated team members.
