London: Stuart Broad and James Anderson once again showed their enduring class as England took a huge step towards winning the series on day two of the third Test against West Indies.

The veteran pace bowlers, who have each been left out for one match in the series, took two wickets apiece, while Broad weighed in with valuable runs.

With Jofra Archer also bowling at high pace, West Indies were 137-6, 232 behind, when bad light ended play half an hour early.

The tourists had earlier made an explosive start, taking four wickets for 18 runs, including Ollie Pope without adding to his overnight 91 and Jos Buttler for 67.

But Broad reversed the momentum by crashing a 33-ball halfcentury - only Ian Botham has made a quicker fifty for England in Tests.

Fijian winger Semi Valemei scored the match winner with his maiden National Rugby League (NRL) try in just his second match, after Jarrod Croker had earlier kicked the Canberra Raiders level via a penalty goal.

Raiders edged out the South Sydney Rabbitohs side 18-12.

Speaking to SUNsports yesterday Vodafone Fijian Bati head coach, Brandon Costin said Valemei has been monitored by the Bati staff for a few years.

“He was in our World Nines squad which allowed him to gain some experience and now Semi is in a good system at the Raiders,” Costin said. Valemei was the beneficiary of an Elliott Whitehead kick out of dummy-half in the 57th minute which rebounded off Campbell Graham’s boot and into the winger’s hands.

The Raiders had earlier started the faster of the two teams, with Nick Cotric getting the game’s first try off a Jack Wighton bomb which Rapana batted back.

Results: Warriors 10-18 Roosters, Sharks 28-24 Dragons, Raiders 18-12 Rabbitohs
