Brook wins on a count back

Veteran women golfer Sulu Brook scored 35 points to claim the VC Builder’s sponsored 18-hole stableford tournament at the Nadi Airport Golf Club on Saturday.

She managed to pull through in a count back against retired school teacher Chandra Segran Pillay who also shot 35 points.

Prakash Chand settled for third spot after he scored 34 points but won on count back from Vinod Chauhan. NTP prize (18th) was Prakash Chand.

Nadi Airport Golf Club president Ashok Gounder said, “This was the first tournament at the club since the COVID-19 restrictio­ns were lifted.

“Every Saturday we will have a

18-hole tournament.”

He said 33 golfers were present on the field that day.

“16 competed in our tournament while 17 were part of the Suva Pirates who played a four–man Ambrose tournament on Saturday, as well,” Gounder said.

Meanwhile, versatile Rohit Chandra shot -1 in the A –grade to claim the Jyoti Rentals Bogey event at the Ba Golf Club in Rarawai on the weekend.

Ba lawyer Vikrant Chandra scored (-2) and Raven Kumar scored (-4) to settle for third and fourth respective­ly.

Club vice-captain Rohit Chandra said they would like to thank Jyoti Lal, director of Jyoti Rentals again for the sponsorshi­p and support rendered to the club.

He added this weekend’s tournament would be sponsored by Shakun’s Rentals.
