Positive Start: Serritslev
Head coach works with international company to analyse players’ performance
Vodafone Fijian football head coach Flemming Serritslev is satisfied with the performance of teams in the Vodafone Premier League (VPL) competition.
With the resumption of active sports after three months, Serritslev said teams were much better now compared to when the League started in February.
“The physicality of the teams has improved since the last time,” the coach told SUNsports yesterday.
“The intensity is high, for sure this is a positive start for the teams.
“I believe it is to do with the team’s preparation before the games, now that they’re given at least three weeks,” Serritslev added.
Most of the teams had only a week to prepare in previous competitions and tournaments, which was one of the issues raised in the coach’s seminar.
However, Serritslev had addressed this issue with the Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA).
“They have now come back from a long rest and with a positive intensity.
“Seeing the match between Nadi and Suva, Nadi has really improved in terms of physicality.
“It was an intense game,” he added.
Serritslev has only done a full length analysis of Suva and Rewa match that was played on July 19, with the help of an international analyst company.
He hopes to do more future analysis with the company, provided Fiji FA has funds for it.
The final games of the first round of the VPL were played on Sunday, July 26, and teams were now preparing for the Punjas Battle of Giants tournament.
“I’m sure the B.O.G. will be very exciting with good matches,” Serritslev said.
The pool matches will be played from August 7 – 9. The semifinals and final will follow on the following weekend. The current national football squad is expected to have a weeekend camp on the last week of August. The second round of the Vodafone Premier League will start on August 22.
