Speaker Stresses MPs Download careFIJI App

Do the Honourable thing and download the careFIJI mobile applicatio­n. Speaker of Parliament Ratu Epeli Nailatikau in Parliament yesterday told leaders that it was crucially important that they adhered to all advisories from the Ministry of Health officials including the one on downloadin­g the careFIJI mobile applicatio­n.

“It has also come to my attention that not all members have downloaded the careFIJI applicatio­n,” Ratu Epeli said.

“It worries me because as leaders we should be at the forefront adhering to advisories and in turn ensuring many Fijians do the same,” he said.

He said as members of Parliament, they must work together to ensure that Fiji remains COVID contained.

“For all members who have received official mobile phones and have not downloaded the app, to do the honourable thing and download the careFIJI app.

“I have given the instructio­n to the Secretary General that those who wish to come and visit me in Parliament should check that they have the app. That’s for anyone wanting to come to visit the Speaker.”

Meanwhile, National Federation Party Leader Biman Prasad when asked outside of Parliament did not confirm if his party members had downloaded the app.

“How do you know we do not have the app?” Mr Prasad asked the Fiji Sun.

careFIJI uses Bluetooth technology that does not capture any location or GPS informatio­n.
