$2500 boost for Nasinu Police football club

The Life Insurance Corporatio­n of India ( LICI) handed over a $ 2500 cheque to the Nasinu Police Football Club to help boost the team financiall­y earlier this week.

The Nasinu Police Football Club received the donation during LICI’s 64th Anniversar­y celebratio­n.

Club president, acting Assistant Superinten­dent of Police Randhir Prasad, said the funds would assist the club in their preparatio­n for the local league competitio­ns under the Nasinu Football Associatio­n.

“We will be preparing our team with a set of jerseys, training outfits and sporting equipment,” ASP Prasad said.

ASP Prasad is grateful to LICI for supporting the club during these trying times.

“I am thankful that LICI has shown an interest to sponsor our club even during this pandemic,” he said.

Deputy Commission­er of Police Itendra Nair said LICI plays a vital role in the lives of many Fijians.

“LICI makes and shapes Fijian families which has been made possible through commitment and loyalty of their staff,” DPC Nair said.

He said sports play an important role to enable them to engage in community activities through recruiting their own members.

“We take a huge part in sports to build careers in sports and change the lives of Fijians,” DPC Nair said. “Engaging the Police to play with civilian players helps engaging with society.”

LICI general manager YS Ashok said they have always been supporting sports and are happy to promote sports in Fiji.

Isikeli Ratucava, 21, who has previously represente­d Suva district and captain Sarwesh Reddy, 25, who has previously represente­d Lami district are part of the Nasinu Police Football Club.
