SBW: I’m a big fan of Kikau
Sonny Bill Williams (SBW) has revealed to NRL.com that he is a big fan of Fijian- born backrower Viliame Kikau.
SBW who is making his return to National Rugby League (NRL) this weekend by playing for the Sydney Roosters said that he has been following the progress of the Penrith Panthers.
“I’m a big fan of Panther backrow Kikau,” he said.
When approached Kikau said it was crazy.
“For me personally I’m nowhere near Sonny Bill. He’s the one I’m always looking up to while growing up in the islands and watching rugby league.” The Vodafone Fijian Bati rep reiterated that he cannot be compared to SBW.
“Sonny Bill has got eight packs while I’ve one,” he added. When asked of the possibility of meeting up with SBW during the NRL competition, Kikau says, it is a privilege to be playing against some like him.
Kikau and Bati team-mate Api Koroisau played an instrumental role in Panthers 25-12 win over Broncos at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Thursday night.
Last night, Bati forward Jacob Saifiti played for Newcastle Knights against Sharks while Melbourne Storm has Isaac Lumelume in their battle against Rabbitohs.
Today, at 5pm Bati back Marcelo Montoya is at centre for the Canterbury Bulldogs as they take on Gold Coast Titans. At 9.35pm Semi Valemei has recovered from injury and is on the reserve list for the Canberra Raiders as they face Roosters with SBW on the interchange list.
Tomorrow at 6pm, Eels with Bati reps Maika Sivo, Waqa Blake, Reagan Campbell-Gillard and Kane Evans take on Auckland Warriors.
St George Illawarra Dragons with winger Mikaele Ravalawa travel to Townsville to take on Queensland Cowboys at 6.30pm.
