A STRONG WIND WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR LAND AREAS OF YASAWA AND MAMANUCA GROUP, SOUTHWEST VITI LEVU, KADAVU AND NEARBY SMALLER ISLANDS, LAU AND LOMAIVITI GROUP, TAVEUNI AND NEARBY SMALLER ISLANDS AND NORTHEASTERN PARTS OF VANUA LEVU.
Situation: A high pressure system to the far southwest directs a fresh to strong southeasterly wind flow over the country. Forecast to midnight tonight for the Fiji Group:
For Yasawa and Manauca group, Southwest Viti Levu, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti Group, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands and northeastern parts of Vanua Levu: Strong southeasterly winds with average speed of 50km/hr, gusting to 60km/hr at times. Rough to very rough seas. Moderate southerly swells.
For the rest of the group: Moderate to fresh southeasterly winds, gusty at times. Rough seas. Moderate southerly swells. Cloudy periods with brief showers over the southeastern parts and interior of the larger islands. Mainly fine elsewhere. Cool at night.
