Resort’s Sporting Facilities A Hit
Hospitality and the availability of sporting facilities has set Shangri- La’s Fijian Resort and Spa above other tourism destinations, said voluntary basketball coach, Thomas Acosta. Mr Acosta, his wife Rosa, and their son visited the resort on September 5, during the Constitution Day weekend.
“The occasion was our son Ocen’s 12th birthday, so we brought along 11 of his mates from Tropical Basketball Club,” he said.
“We were amazed at the hospitality.
“The water park is absolutely amazing.”
Basketball class
Mr Acosta said: “We also got to train and have a game of basketball at the resort court. “We managed to conduct a basketball class while we were there.”
Mr Acosta, whose family is originally from Manila, in the
Philippines, said he had visited some other resorts in Fiji. “But the Shangri-La stands out - my family thoroughly enjoyed our stay there,” he said. “Because we are a sportloving family, we were taken aback by the availability of the sporting facilities available, especially the basketball court.
“We spent a lot of time though on the beautiful beach and the water park.”
Popular event
The resort’s Beach, Beats and Eats weekends, since they began in July, have become a popular event and, according to the resort’s director of sales and marketing Marsha Eyre, was booked out on a number of occasions.
The next Beach, Beats and Eats weekend is the Oktoberfest this week, beginning on Friday, with special rates for accommodation, and German-inspired fun weekend.
