Labasa bus driver charged following fatal accident

The bus driver alleged to have caused the death of a 74-year-old passenger appeared at the Labasa magistrates court yesterday. Shalendra Prasad, 40, is charged with one count of dangerous driving occasioning death and four counts of dangerous driving.

It was alleged that the bus he was driving, carrying more than 30 passengers, veered off the road in Naividamu, Seaqaqa on October 6, causing the death of Ram Piyari. Shalendra is on bail under strict bail conditions.
