“We stand together with international agencies to celebrate this important day.

“We work together in partnership to address data gaps, and integration of data sources to capture other areas where appropriate data is lacking or under developed.”

He acknowledged United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and other international agency for their partnership in the development, gathering and dissemination of official statistics.

“This is using statistics as a tool for strengthening decision making and for development purposes.”

This survey will allow for the collection of so much data on women and young persons in Fiji.

Mr Naiqama said Fiji MICS 2020-2021 will be undertaken through a partnership arrangement between UNICEF, UNFPA, Ministry of Health and Fiji Bureau of Statistics.

There will be 16 teams comprising of seven officers in a team and will be going throughout Fiji to collect this important information.

The teams he said would undertake the necessary specialised training to carry out this work.
