KUDOS TO MR MAN

A mentally challenged man was sitting in a bus on his way to Suva yesterday passing comments and shouting at passers by.

He even peeped out and touched a woman sitting on another bus when the bus stopped at a traffic light. Passengers were irritated by this man.

However, BTL praises this man after he rushed out of the bus to help an elderly woman and her granddaughter.

The woman who was also travelling in the same bus as the man had some luggage in the cargo hold.

Seeing the elderly woman struggling to get her luggage out, this man quickly rushed out and helped her while the other passengers watched.

ILLEGAL PARKING

Kudos to the transport enforcement officers who have been laying down the law for people blocking Extension Street.

This is where the CWM Hospital is. Motorists have been guilty of illegal parking.

It seems as if the enforcement guys are present throughout the day.

Members of the public request similar attention in areas in the city, especially Rodwell Road which has taxis parking illegally throughout the day, as well.

PUBLIC SAFETY

Seen in the city of Suva were technicians supposedly hard at work on the traffic lights that have not been in operation for some time.

Some of the technicians working at one of the busiest streets in Suva were seen pulling cables onto the footpath without enclosures.

Good to see work being done, however, in some places, the technicians need to be mindful of the safety of the public.

CASHLESS

Fiji is surely and slowly taking steps to become a cashless society.

The biggest municipal council in Fiji and a mobile service provider will be shaking hands today.

This is because the mobile platforms are available to market vendors making it possible for customers to buy vegetables without cash.

PARKING SPOT

Spotted two days along Ellery Street in Suva, a fellow, parking into the spot allocated for the disabled.

He was not the only one who parks in that spot clearly marked as a disabled parking zone.

This was also happening at Dolphins in Suva.
