Al Hamd Smart Living Managing Director Ashfaaq Khan handed a $1K cheque to the Nadi Rugby Union yesterday. This was to help the team prepare for the Farebrother-Sullivan Trophy challenge against Namosi at the ANZ Stadium on Saturday. Khan said: “Youths are the backbone of our country and Al-Hamd will continue to support youth developing organization in Fiji.

“We are always here supporting rugby at all levels, from grassroots and onwards.

“$1K is not much, but this is to assist them in their preparation towards the Farebrother Challenge. “And we wish them all the best.” Al Hamad Smart Living are major sponsors of the Korotabu rugby team from Vatutu Village, in Nadi. “We also sponsor teams playing in the Nadi Rugby Union like Korotabu and Nawaka.

“This is a way to give back to the community to help develop rugby in Fiji.”

Last year, the Ponijese Lutuciricoached side won the Farebrother from holders Naitasiri where current winger Amenio Naseyara scored a double.

A week later Nadi lost the trophy to Nadroga who then lost it to Namosi in the second challenge earlier this year.

Should Nadi win, they host Tailevu but if Namosi retains the title, they would host Suva in the last challenge next week.

Meanwhile, former Nadi Rugby officials Noa Neivalu said Nadi have what it takes to win prized silverware.

“Making wise decisions is crucial at all times during the 80 minutes,” Neivalu said.

He also thanked the Cevu Nadi Association for their support in buying boots, canvas, toiletries, food for players.

“That is how passionate we are for our Nadi team. Wishing them the very best this week.”

Namosi plays Nadi 3pm at the ANZ Stadium while Suva hosts Lautoka at 5.30pm.
