THE NEXT GENERATION SHOW HAILED A SUCCESS

- SHREEYA VERMA

The Fiji Fashion Week ( FJFW 2020) The Next Generation Show was held last night at the Holiday Inn Suva.

NextGen highlights the work of emerging designers particularly those who have very recently received formal education in fashion design at the Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC).

FJFW Managing Director Ellen WhippyKnight said: “NextGen is free and so bookings for seats at our first FJFW event are now completely full.

“FJFW is grateful to the community that despite the economic reality this pandemic has forced us into, it looks like everyone is taking the time to support our next generation of fashion designers.

“There is another free event happening on November 17 and we urge the public who are interested in watching the latest in Indian fashion wear to book now to get your seats.

“For our two ticketed events, The Oceans Gala (Nov 21) and The Resort Luxe (Nov 28), we are already working on putting in extra seats because the initial tickets we released are also sold out.

“Our designers and creative artists have worked hard to be innovative in this new reality to continue to produce fashion wear and earn their livelihoods in a world where supply chains are heavily restricted and it looks like Fijians are jumping on board to support this work.”

Ms Whippy-Knight noted that its this resilient, positive energy which has been a great driver for the FJFW 2020 campaign.

“There are 70 models in total as we have four shows, two ticketed and two free and unlike in the past when we had everything under one roof, now we are taking our shows our to where our supporters are, so the demand for models is more.

“These models have worked hard over the past month and will continue to be in rehearsals to ensure that the runway is properly and effectively showcasing the Fijian fashion wear our designers have produced.
