New Company Runs Your Errands for You

Vilitati Rakikau and his wife Yolanda Ratumaitavuki left their day jobs following the success of their business, Errands for You.

The couple invested $1200 a month to run the business, while at first, holding down their day jobs.

Errands For You quickly became popular forcing them to leave their day jobs and solely focus on their business.

Their inspiration has been their three-yearold daughter.

“Our inspiration is our daughter’s future and looking at how other Fijians have been bold enough to begin their businesses starting from scratch,” Mr Rakikau said.

“The thought of seeing how courageous they were to begin was inspiration enough for us.”

The business began when a friend, stuck abroad during the COVID-19 pandemic, needed help.

“A friend, stuck overseas, had asked us to do her some favors,” Mr Rakikau said.

“This involved planting trees at her recently purchased land.”

From picking up mail to delivering household items, the business treats each errand as just as important as the previous one.

“We know how busy one can be, so we never pick and choose which errand we run or not,” Mr Rakikau said.

Their biggest challenge was meeting deadlines, the couple said.

No compromises are made when meeting such demands.

The couple have expansion plans.

“We’d like to open an office and create employment opportunities for our family and friends,” the couple said.

Errands For You is a home-based business, receiving orders online through their Facebook page Errans For You. Their advice to others: “Never start a business to make money, start to make a difference.”
