The Human Rights and AntiDiscrimination Commission is encouraging the family of a man, who claimed that he was assaulted by Police officers, to contact the commission.
Director Ashwin Raj said the commission was trying to get in touch with the person who posted the comment, but to no avail.
He added that the commission took all allegations of torture and brutality seriously, more so, when children were involved.
Mr Raj said the commission would pursue the matter in accordance with the Human Rights and AntiDiscrimination Commission Act. The family is requested to contact the commission on 970-9894. Meanwhile, Acting Commissioner of Police, Rusiate Tudravu has ordered a preliminary investigation into the claim of the alleged involvement of Police officers in an alleged case of Police assault.
Acting Commissioner Tudravu has directed the Internal Affairs Investigations unit to investigate the claims made and anyone with information that could assist with investigations is requested to call the Internal Affairs Office on 990-5627.
