463 Vehicles Offloaded At Suva Port

Atotal of 463 vehicles are expected to be discharged from two vehicle carriers that arrived yesterday at Suva Port.

Fiji Ports Terminal chief executive officer, Hasthika Dela, said vehicle carrier Grand Quest which arrived from Auckland, New Zealand, was expected to discharge 183 vehicles and will depart soon after.

“After its departure at Suva Port, this vessel will head to Shanghai, China. This is its first call at the Suva Port this month,” he said.

Mr Dela said vehicle carrier Meridian Ace that also arrived yesterday from Osaka, Japan would discharge 280 vehicles.

Meridian Ace is expected to depart tomorrow heading to Auckland, New Zealand.

Meanwhile, the Lautoka and Suva Port have been busy during the Christmas week, as several cargo vessels arrived at the two ports. Mr Dela said few cargo vessels arrived on December 26, 2020.

One of these vessels was Capitaine Wallis which berthed at Lautoka Port on December 27 around 2pm.

The vessel he said headed to Suva Port soon after loading at Lautoka Port.

‘For Capitaine Wallis it discharged 150 tonnes of cargo and loaded 120 tonnes into the vessel,”

CapitaineT­asman offloaded 499 tones of cargo, and loaded 240 tonnes into the vessel.

Mr Dela said this vessel was expected to depart tomorrow heading to Wallis and Futuna.

Pacific Islander II

Another cargo vessel, Pacific Islander II arrived at Suva Port on December 26, 2020 after travelling from Lautoka Wharf.

Mr Dela said this cargo vessel departed the following day after dischargin­g 75 tonnes of cargo 40 tonnes of cargo onto the vessel. Pacific Islander II headed to Nukualofa, Tonga after departing from Suva Port.

Island Chief

This vessel expected to arrive at Suva Port today after travelling from Vavau, Tonga.

Mr Dela said while figures on the tonnes were yet to be confirmed, the vessel was expected to depart tomorrow for Shanghai, China

Capitaine Quiros

On Christmas Eve, this vessel arrived at Lautoka Port after travelling from Nauru.

“This vessel discharged 295 tonens of cargo, loaded 54 into the vessel and departed Lautoka Port on December 26 heading to Suva Port where it discharged 61 tonnes of cargo and loaded 221 tonnes into the vessel,” Mr Dela said. Capitaine Quiros is expected to depart Suva Port today heading to Funafuti, Tuvalu.

Capitaine Tasman

Mr Dela said this vessel arrived at Suva Port on December 26, from Noumea, New Caledonia.

“This vessel offloaded 499 tonnes of cargo, loaded 240 tonnes into the vessel. It departed yesterday heading to Lautoka Port,” he said.
