LIVE WITHIN YOUR MEANS

After Cyclone Yasa hit on December 17, individuals, businesses and political parties were quick to respond by booking tickets on flights and boats going to the North.

They were quick to plaster their pictures all over social media lending a hand to those affected by the cyclone. Two weeks after, a person who was pictured in the North is publicly asking people for money saying he has been left broke for assisting those in the North.

Can people stick to living within their means and not be so quick to assist people at the expense of being broke? All in the name of political scoring on social media.

‘NO DUMPING’

Municipal Councils should be commended for the great work they do to keep their municipalities clean.

However, it’s not easy dealing with residents who do not comply to simple requests. A few days ago the

Suva City Council erected a sign in a neighbourhood which said “NO DUMPING” where people used to dump their household waste.

One day after, rubbish was seen piled up directly opposite the signboard.

Talk about creative ways to disobey authorities.

RESPONSIBLE DRINKERS

An employee driving to work from Navua to

Suva on New Year’s Day was surprised to see no drunkards on the road, which is a usual scene every year after New Year’s Eve parties.

Good to see that people are more responsible with their drinking habits.

NEW YEAR’S PARTY

A shopper at a supermarket yesterday is said to have spent more than $700 buying 13 cartons of beer.

When the loading boy was asked he said, “Oh yes that’s my neighbour. They have been partying at his house since yesterday (New Year’s Eve).”
