Nadi Town Blues wants NCC spot

Nadi Town Blues FC wants to represent the district in the Fiji FA National Club Championsh­ip ( NCC) next week.

But first the Samuela Tamanisauc­aptained side needs to beat Max Nalovo FC in the Nadi Football Local League competitio­n Super Premier division final at the Prince Charles Park, Nadi on Sunday.

The winner of the RC Manubhai & Co Limited sponsored competitio­n will represent Nadi in the NCC.

Nadi Town Blues FC chief executive officer Hiten Kumar said they won the NCC in 2017.

“We did win the NCC in 2017 after claimed the local league title too. In 2018, we won the league only,” he said.

“This time around the boys are looking forward to it. We know Nalovo is a star-studded side but we have four district reps and we want to win the NCC again.”

The side is laced with Nadi reps such as William Valentine, Zain Ali, Mohammed Salmeen, Alfraaz Ali, Avinesh Warran Suwany, and new find Shivneel Pillay to play at striker.

Missing from the match will be Shafim Buksh who was red-carded in the semi-final where the side defeated Downtown Blues FC 4-2. In the other semi-final, Vereti Dickson captained Max Nalovo FC hammered DCA 4-0.

Team president Mun Sami Chetty said, they are looking forward to the NCC and they need to beat Nadi Town Blues.

As far as the NCC history, only three teams from Nadi have won the NCC since 1986, which includes Tanoa FC, Uciwai FC and Nadi Town Blues.

Fixtures for Sunday: Gandhi II – Saunaka Tigers , Nawaicoba Youth – Blues, Nawaka Lions – Votualevu Lions, Max Nalovo – Namaka, Nadi Veterans – Southern Cross, Togo Youth – Lukia.
