- SEREANA SALALO SUVA Edited by Osea Bola

Suva Football Association’s Super League champions, North Pole, aim to win the 2020 National Club Championship ( NCC) title.

This will be their third time to participate in the NCC.

The team also won the Suva club comps in 2019, however, the NCC was not held.

The Kanform Industries-sponsored side is laced with Suva district reps like striker Christopher Wasasala, Ravinesh Karan Singh, Jonetani Buksh, Fiji FACT Golden

glove recipient, Beniamino Mateinaqara and brothers Iosefo Verevou and Epeli Saukuru.

Team coach and player Imtiaz Begg said their goal was to be the crowned champions at the end of the tournament, which is scheduled for January 8-10.

“We will start training on Monday, as some players have taken their festive break,” he said.

“We set our goals to win the Suva

league and we did it for two yearsin-a-row. And now we look forward to win the NCC next week, which is our next target.

“We will see how it goes, as team such as Kasavu also has a lot of Rewa district reps on their side.” Begg indicated that the team was named North Pole as it targeted Northern players from Labasa who resides in Suva.

North Pole had beaten the starstudded Police team in the semifinals, which featured most of the Suva district players including Suva’s scoring machine, Sairusi Nalaubu.

They last qualified to the NCC in 2013.

The club was founded in 2009 where Begg played along Suva reps like Samuela Kautoga.

The NCC venue is yet to be confirmed.
