Miracle of humility, love, forgiveness, gratitude
During these times of economic hardship and unprecedented challenges for families, we have had to dig deeper to find the power and strength to fortify our resilience.
If we were to solely rely on our physical prowess some of us would not have survived.
In the face of adversity we have stood strong, strengthened by our love for one another in the way we have reached out to help our fellow citizens in dire need of the basic necessities of life. COVID-19, Cyclone Harold, Cyclone Yasa have all made our lives miserable on one hand. On the other hand, they have opened up us to a new way of life we now refer to as the new normal.
We have discovered new things and tried out ideas we have not thought about before. This has been happening for the past 10 months. In two months it will be one year since COVID-19 arrived on our shores and changed our lives forever.
Some things remain constant and they dictate the state of our happiness. They are acquired through our own personal efforts and influence the way we think and act.
They are the motivation power which comes from God. Right through this crisis, he has been in control. Where human power ends he takes over and extends our capacity and ability to overcome our trials and challenges.
He is the source of the power of humility, love, forgiveness and gratitude that has been manifested in the numerous charitable acts we have seen during this crisis.
They represent his spirit which promotes positive thinking and bring people together from our rich diversity.
Even politicians who spend most of their time attacking each other appear to be working together for a common objective.
SODELPA leaders have announced that the party has adopted a school in one of the devastated areas of Vanua Levu. They have worked with the Government to achieve this. That’s a positive move that shows that politics should not be a barrier to reaching out and helping those in need irrespective of their ethnicity, culture, political beliefs or socio-economic backgrounds.
God is inclusive, not discriminatory. We all believe there is a supreme being out there that controls the universe and that we are all his spirit children despite our differences. And that one day when we die we will go back to him.
When we are humble we will have love for our family and our fellow Fijians. We will be ready to forgive those that do wrong to us or despitefully use us. Last but not least we will express gratitude when we receive and get the opportunity to serve others. Gratitude like the other qualities, is the opposite of pride, arrogance and hatred. It enables us to see things in their proper perspective and do the right things.
Let’s cultivate these qualities and apply them in our lives. We are seeing them bring out miracles in our communities.
