Seventh-day Adventist earns more than $17m from tithes

-

Retained tithe remained the core income of the Seventhday Adventist (SDA) Church over the past five years.

This was revealed by the church chief financial officer Apisalome Seru at the SDA Fiji Mission 16th Quinquennial Session held at the Suva Civic Centre.

Mr Seru said retained tithe had continued to increase in the past five years and was 65 per cent of the core income of the church.

“Tithe raked in $17, 920,076 from 2015 to 2019 with ‘other income’ sources raking in the second highest amount in income $3,131, 226,” Mr Seru said.

“Appropriation received was the third source of income which commuted $3,107,211 in the past five years,” he said. It was followed by offering and donations, education income, property income and investment income.

Mr Seru added: “From 2015 to 2019 more than $10m was used in missions alone and that’s where the greatest sum of money is used annually.”
